Beneficiaries’ meeting in Germany PDF Print E-mail

On July 20th and 21st, 2009, the second partner meeting took place in Dresden, Germany. Representatives from the project’s beneficiaries were present and took part in conversations regarding the planned pilot implementation of a PAYT scheme in Elefsina, as well as the methodology for the national studies.
The first PAYT workshop also took place on these dates. In the workshop, TUD presented successful examples of PAYT implementation and also elaborated on the various methods and financial schemes that can be applied. This workshop clarified specific issues on PAYT schemes to the partners.
Additionally, the participants went for an excursion in the surrounding area of the meeting place in Pirna. In the excursion, different PAYT settings were observed in action.

First beneficiary meeting in Elefsina PDF Print E-mail

The first meeting of all beneficiaries of the LIFE07/ENV/GR/000271 “The development of Pay As You Throw Systems in Hellas, Estonia and Cyprus” Project took place on the 27th and 28th of July in Elefsina, whose Local Authority, the Municipality of Elefsina is the coordinating beneficiary of this project.
Representatives from all the beneficiaries working on the Project were present in this two-day meeting. Monitoring Expert, Mrs Christine Marouli was also present. This meeting led to better acquaintance among the beneficiaries and contributed to a rigid foundation for coordination of the Tasks and Actions of the Project.
The meeting concluded with a visit of the participants at the area that has been selected for the pilot implementation of a PAYT system.

LIFE+ Environment Programme PDF Print E-mail

 

The LIFE+ Environment is the European funding instrument, which supports projects that aim at nature and environmental protection. These projects are implemented mainly in EU Member States, but there are cases where candidate, acceding or neighbouring countries participate.
The main scope of LIFE+ Environment is to provide special support for the development and implementation of the Community environmental policies and legislation, especially as far as the targets of the 6th Environment Action Programme.
LIFE+ in general is  comprised of the following three components: Nature and Biodiversity; Environment Policy and Governance  and Dissemination and Information. The thematic categories of the LIFE+ projects are:

 

  • Nature and Biodiversity

  • Air

  • Energy and Climate

  • Environmental Management

  • Industry and Production

  • Urban Environment and Quality of Life

  • Soil, Land-use and Agriculture

  • Waste

  • Water

 

Part of the budget of a LIFE+ Environment project could support the activities of some NGOs that have shown competence and are active in 3 European countries either alone or as part of a group. 

Since 1992, when it was established, LIFE has co-funded 2.750 projects and has contributed approximately  1,35 billion euro for the protection of the Environment.
