The chamber system is a special technical installation which incorporates a space or container(s) for the temporary storage of waste until its collection. Typical for this installation is a feeding chute where waste can only be inserted in conjunction with direct payments or the registration of the user. Usually, a separate chamber is attached to the feeding chute to allow for the measurement of the inserted amount of waste and/or to make sure that the corresponding payments or user registration takes place before the waste is stored inside the system. To get access to the system and as a means for user identification/registration and/or for direct payments smart cards, transponder keys, special cards with units for depreciation or token are the most common solutions. Depending on which solution is applied, the system can be operated either as a prepaid-system or one with subsequent charging. These installations can further be differentiated according to the applied mode of measuring the waste.
